I believe extra hot giardiniera is something the body needs every day, like water.

My last dog was named Rizzo, after the first baseman on the Chicago Cubs – not the character in Grease, the Dustin Hoffman character in Midnight Cowboy, a character on the Muppets, the former mayor of Philadelphia or other Rizzos who have somehow forced their way into popular culture.

I would prefer waiting for a bus in a rainstorm without an umbrella to shopping for more than 15 minutes (unless it’s for something useful, like tickets to a ballgame or a classic movie).

After years of writing about social and community issues, I still believe that quote by Margaret Mead: Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
